How does it work?

When you get your Golly Whopper Rod, you'll receive the rod, a protective sleeve, a bumper end, and a boat extension handle.

To fish in the Kayak configuration, simply bolt in the bumper end and you'll be ready to go!

To fish in the Boat configuration, remove the bumper end, attach the Boat extension handle, and then the bumper end.

A Bank extension handle is available for purchase separately.  To fish in the Bank configuration, remove the Boat extension and bumper end, attach the Bank extension handle, and then the bumper end.

The Lifetime Warranty requires product registration within 30 days of purchase. Then if you encounter any bad luck, just mail it back and we'll replace it for just 50% of MSRP. Deal?

We also warranty our rods against manufacturer defects for 6 months after purchase. This warranty applies to any purchase from an approved distributor and requires proof of purchase. Registration required for this warranty, too.

How do I change the lengths?

The Golly Whopper is built with a reinforced metal union in the butt. This allows for two different extension handles to be screwed on.

To change the handle, simply bolt on the extension piece that you want, or use it without an extension for the best kayak rod you've ever had!

NOTE: We don't advise attaching more than one extension piece at a time. Connecting more than one extension handle to your rod will void the manufacturer warranty.

What is the total rod length in each configuration?

• Kayak Configuration (Rod Rubber Bumper) = 7'
• Boat Configuration (Rod Boat Extension Rubber Bumper) = 7' 6"
• Bank Casting Configuration (Rod Bank Extension Rubber Bumper) = 8'

Aren't kayak rods just regular rods with 12" cut off them?

That's often what happens with new fad companies try to get money from kayak anglers.  They do this when they don't understand kayak fishing, and probably haven't even been in a kayak themselves.  That's not us.

The Golly Whopper was designed in partnership with anglers that have fished thousands and thousands of hours on kayaks, boats, and banks.  It's specifically designed to handle each task well.

Will the Golly Whopper stand up to saltwater?

The metal union is an aluminum alloy which is anti-rust, but not 100% anti-corrosion against saltwater.  If you use it in saltwater, we'd recommend applying a thin layer of grease (like reel grease) to the threads before screwing the extension on, and then rinsing after it's been in salt water.
